The Sewells were awarded WAMMCO’s $250 monthly title together with $250 worth of farm chemicals from FarmWorks. Mark recently returned from an accounting job in Perth to assist in running the farm whilst Antony completes his Muresk degree and Greg undergoes medical treatment. The farm has long been involved in successful heavy lamb production. The recent introduction of SAMMs to the program has seen strong weight gains from lambs finished on pellets with fewer issues of lambs becoming over fat. Greg has effectively utilised the contract system to deliver heavy lambs both off their mothers in the spring and off feeders throughout the Summer. A consistent focus on genetics and flock management were instrumental to their successful lamb production. The assistance and advice provided by WAMMCO’s Rob Davidson has been a significant help to Mark and Antony. The recent move to Milne Easyone pellets has also been beneficial. |
