MLA and AWI conduct a sheep industry survey every February, June and October, to assess the production capability of Australia's sheep flock.
The survey is now jointly funded by MLA and AWI and will improve the coverage and, by extension, accuracy of the results.
The survey covers the key aspects of sheepmeat and wool production, including ewes on hand, lambs intended for sale by weight category, and numbers of sheep to be shorn. The information collected will assist MLA, AWI and other stakeholders with supply forecasting and research and development needs.
